Boys' Team 5th Place
The rain didn’t stop the golfers at the Red Rock Conference meet in Worthington on Tuesday, May 17. MCC was prepared for the challenging 18-hole course, but still got tripped up sometimes on the fast greens and thick roughs. Overall, the Rebels played very well despite the not so perfect conditions.
The girls team ended up in third place in the conference with a four-day total of 1748. For the boys, they ended in fifth place overall with a fourday total of 1588. Individual All-Conference honors went out to Ciera Tutt (5th place), Trey Veldhuisen (9th place), McKade Gillette (9th place), and Ava Johnson (10th place). MCC’s golfers did extremely well on such a difficult course, but the rain definitely impacted their mental game.
The boys team did well, led by Eli Hernandez with a 99. He was followed by McKade Gillette (101), Trey Veldhuisen (103), Alex Santay (115), Hudson Schryvers (117) and Dawson Schreier (128). On the girl’s side Ciera Tutt led with a 49 front and 49 back totaling 98 for the day. Up next for the Rebels was Ava Johnson who shot a personal with a 104 total. Lizzie Daniels (147) and Karlie Schuur (148) rounded out MCC’s team score of 497 for the final day.
