WE ARE ALSO DOING A MEDALLION HUNT

Christmas is a time of joy and celebration, and the holiday season is a perfect opportunity for communities to come together. The Slayton Area Chamber of Commerce has collaborated with local businesses and organizations to create light displays throughout Gullord Park in Slayton.

If you love twinkling lights and holiday displays, the park will be a winter wonderland with light-up activities scheduled for Sunday, November 26th from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. There will be a scavenger hunt and several other family-friendly activities to enjoy. Miron Carney will pro- festive music while the Masonic Lodge will sell hot cocoa and popcorn for park-goers. A fire pit will be available for making s’mores. Hospice of Murray County will also be lighting their tree of remembrance that afternoon.

Santa will arrive at the park on a horse-drawn carriage at 3:30 p.m. and will be available for photos and to hear the wishes of all the children. The Grinch will also be wandering the park and interacting with attendees. The entrances to the park will be closed to traffic, allowing for horse-drawn carriage rides around the circle.

Kennedy Jackels and the Joe Biren family will be touring the circle from 3:30-5:15 p.m. Horse drawn rides are sponsored by the Wheel-Herald. As the clock strikes 5:30 p.m., the park will come alive with twinkling lights, creating a magical atmosphere. The lights will be lit each night thereafter from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. until January 1st.

The Slayton Area Chamber extends a special thanks to Platinum donors Hadley Lion’s Club and Gold donors Katie Jacobson, CPA, State Farm, Hospice of Murray County, and The Hut Gift Shoppe. Their contributions allowed the chamber to purchase additional lighting displays and strands of lights to host up into some of the trees in the park.

This year the Chamber has added a medallion hunt to their list of activities. Listen to KJOE Radio and watch the Chamber Facebook page daily to find out the clues. The lucky finder will be awarded $50 in chamber bucks.

Make sure to mark your calendars for Sunday, November 26th, and join the Slayton Area Chamber for this family-friendly event.
