Dear Editor,
I am writing in reference to the Commissioner Article titled “Murray County Commissioners Take Action on Ditch 22” by Joanne Bergman in your February 14, 2022 edition.
My motion is incorrectly stated, as I voted to follow the legal advice of our Attorneys, John Kolb and Travis Smith, aligning with our acceptance of the Court Mediation agreement on May 4, 2021. My motion was “I move to award the bid for the 2022 Construction for Improvement of Murray County Ditch No. 22 to low bidder, Noomen Excavating, for the bid price $377,521.52, further moving to reserve the option to reimburse advances with future bond proceeds if determined necessary in the future.” Dave Thiner seconded the motion. On a roll call vote, Dave Thiner, no; Dennis Welgraven, no; Jim Kluis, no; Lori Gunnink, yes; Molly Malone, yes; motion failed.
