Re: Save Wonder World Preschool!!!
I have been a member of St. Ann’s Parish for over 50 years. During that time, Wonder World Preschool has leased St. Ann’s school building and been a tremendous resource in our community. As a Catholic, I have been proud that St. Ann’s has provided this service to Slayton. My children attended day care there over 30 years ago. Many of you in this community had or have children or grandchildren that were cared for at Wonder World.
On June 17th the daycare parents (over 30 families) and staff members were informed that the lease of the school building will no longer be renewed and the center was given 1 year to find a new location. This timeframe in itself is almost impossible to accomplish. This decision was not discussed with the Finance Council or Pastoral Council. It was not brought to the members of the Parish to discuss options.
We live in a democracy. This decision has had a huge community impact that will have damaging effects on the integrity of St. Ann’s. I am calling on all St. Ann members, along with any community members to reach out to Father Schuster at St. Ann’s Parish. There must be other solutions or ideas to solve space issues at this building. This is so disappointing and should not be allowed. Please come to the Community Meeting on Sunday, July 28th at the MCC Auditorium, 6:00 p.m.
