Dear Editor,
This past week was again an example of why I am thankful and proud of my community. This success of this year’s postpandemic Murray County Fair has demonstrated the glue that makes our community strong.
Planning any event of this scale is always a big job. I not only saw the success of this year’s fair with my own eyes, but I heard countless fair goers of all ages singing their praise of the many things that made the fair so much fun.
This success was no accident. I thank the tenacity and hard work of all the members of the Murray County Agricultural Society, the Murray County Fair Board, Murray County Parks, 4-H, American Legion Erwin March Post 64 and Auxiliary, the Slayton Fire Department, the numerous volunteers who selflessly donated hours of their time, and visitors for making our fair a community gathering that is a source of pride.
Miron Carney
Mayor of Slayton
