MCC VS RRC
The Murray County Central Rebels volleyball team hosted the Red Rock Central team on Sept. 14th honoring parents for Parent’s Night with a full sweep of the Falcons.
The C-team started out the night improving their record to 6-0 with winning scores, 25-9, 25-11 and 25-15.
Leading the young Rebels were Danyel Neilson with 9 service aces, 5 digs; Reese Gilbertson, 7 service aces; 11 set assists and four kills; Kat Miller lead with 6 kills followed by Mikayla Reith with 5. Avery Thovson also handed out 14 set assists.
The MCC JV gave their parents a win as well, defeating the RRC team, 25-10, 25-9 and 15-11.
Erynn Rohrer lead the team at the service line, 18/20, 17 points, 5 aces. She also added 14 set assists; Leading the attack were Calleigh Doeden (7) and Suttyn Schryvers (6); Ava Deacon had six digs.
Rebel varsity was in total control of the first set, not allowing the Falcons to get on any type of run. Kate Slettum was solid at the line pushing the score to 12 – 1, before returning to the service line, winning 25-10.
Thea Schneider was on fire putting down three of her five kills in the first set along with Kate Slettum also keeping pace at the attack line with four in the set as well.
The second set saw a change in the Falcons. They battled throughout, taking advantage of Rebel errors and setting up a solid block on Slettum.
Thea Schneider did her best to keep the Rebels in the game, chalking up key kills to keep MCC in the game. The Falcons held on to take the second set from MCC, 24-26.
The third set found MCC back on their heels at a 1-6 deficit early in the game. It would be a battle for points until Rebel senior Abby Loosbrock went on a sevice run, chalking up 3 aces before relenting with the score tied at 10.
Slettum and Schneider stayed hot on the right side to keep it anybody’s game. Two errors by RRC late in the set gave the edge to MCC, 26-24.
Red Rock wasn’t able to get back on track in the fourth set and MCC played very well defensively.
The Rebels kept a nice lead, only allowing the Falcons to get within two points before Loosbrock came back to the front row, securing the win, 25-19.
