Not everyone over the age of 5, dreams of growing up to be a superhero. But recently 3 area youth found themselves in a situation that turned them into real heroes. On July 1st, Caleb Rosenbrook and Gabe Tentinger were involved in a serious jetski accident on Lake Shetek. Weston Kruger, Logan Mihin and Dawson Schreier were instrumental in quickly and safely getting both Caleb and Gabe to shore.

The organizations that responded to the 911 call, Lake Shetek Area First Responders, Currie Fire Department, Murray County Sheriff Department and Tracy Ambulance recently took the opportunity to recognize these boys for their heroism. They were commended for their “selflessness and bravery, doing something for a particular purpose.” They acted “bravely, quickly and swiftly to help another who was unable to help themselves. If not for these actions, the outcomes could have been drastically different” The parents agree. They were all very grateful to ALL of those who helped deal with the situation quickly and professionally. Even Caleb’s doctor has told them that because Tracy Ambulance was able to transport him to Sioux Falls so quickly, his outcome was much better than could have been expected.

Weston, Logan and Dawson were given plaques as a “small reminder of the great appreciation all the members of the Currie Fire Dept., Lake Shetek Responders, Murray County Sheriff’s Office and Tracy Ambulance have for their actions that day. They made a BIG difference!”
