What is a Gruffalo? The Gruffalo is a beloved character from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The Gruffalo has terrible tusks, claws, teeth and jaws, knobby knees, turned-out toes, and a poisonous wort at the end of his nose. His eyes are orange, his tongue is black, and he has purple prickles all over his back. And you will see one walk down Main Street of Marshall, MN, on May 25, 2023.
United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) is fortunate to have Marshall’s Chief of Police and Fire Chief participating in this year’s Gruffalo Walk fundraiser. Chief Marshall and Chief Brunsvold are showing their community support by going Head-to-Head in this competition to see who can raise the most funds before 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023. All proceeds will support the Stuff the Bus initiative that collects supplies to be distributed to participating schools within the UWSWMN service area. Because of this initiative, in 2022, over 56,000 school supplies were distributed to nearly 3,000 local K-12 students at 22 local schools.
The Chief that raises the least funds will walk in the Gruffalo costume. Will it be Chief Marshall or Chief Brunsvold? To vote for your favorite Chief, visit one of our donation locations in Marshall, MN: Lockwood Motors, Kruse Motors, Western Equipment Finance, UWSWMN Office or online at: https://www.unitedwayswmn. org/news/gruffalo-walk-2023.
