GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark In years past when we had friends and relation over for the Thanksgiving Day meal, we had enough leftovers to last through a few more meals. Sometimes the meals were the next days after Thanksgiving. Sometimes the leftovers went into the freezer section of the refrigerator to be enjoyed through the winter.

And there was shopping. Last week’s column mentioned one time we went to the Cities and bought Christmas presents. As well as looked through Dayton’s Christmas display.

Back home there is still time to wrap up your gardening - bringing in the remaining root crops (potatoes, carrots, etc) and then possibly till the soil to be ready for Spring planting. And then to get ready for Christmas. This will take quite a few nights for all the things need doing Christmas cards, presents bought, house decorations, and more.

We’ve mentioned in past years columns at least once this writer planted tulips the first week of December. They blessed us with their flowers come spring.

There will be enough work to get done before winter sets in for sure. Don’t forget to water your house plants too.

Until next week.
