GREEN THUMB

GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark The Murray County Fair is over for another year. Always interesting. Also seems to have something new each year - buildings for instance. But no rides again this year. We miss them even if we don’t ride.

And shortly will be Labor Day.

We try to take in the parade and midway at Tracy. It is also the unofficial end of summer for many of us.

For our garden we have mentioned in past years its time to think of a second garden to plant. That way we can have fresh produce until freeze up.

You might try even a short row of this second garden. Then you will have fresh radishes, maybe some lettuce and other vegetables which have a short growing time. The maximum growing period will be about 90 or less days - until Thanksgiving. So plan and plant accord-venture out in the field of work if needed.

This writer remembers the first week of school in the 12th grade. One of our teachers told us that those who graduated in the past Spring will now, for the first time, be going their separate ways. It was sure true as we found out when we graduated.

Whatever, work and gardening continue. And be sure to care for your inside house plants too.

Until next week.
