GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark When we reviewed our column, we noted one July 4th ceremony omitted. This was to check the corn to see if it is now knee high. As we look out the window at a nearby corn field it is nearly shoulder high.

Not all corn is shoulder high due to late planting and other reasons. Now we wonder when our corn will be tasseling out and the ears showing. Then when will we have this year’s first sweet corn? Otherwise our garden is producing and at least some of our meals include things we grew in our home garden.

And then there’s the garden work continuing too - hoeing for sure. And the yard needs mowing too, among other things.

Inside the house we find the fly swatter is busy. Our plants still need watering and other care.

And the weather is still getting warmer. We wish more rain would come. But it will. We keep busy to be sure. Until next week.
