May has come and gone. Now June is here. The big thing about June will be the calendar start of Summer - also the ,longest day of the year. This writer remembers one time when I was still in the Army Reserve and had overnight duty the starting day of Summer.
About 4 am the sun was just over the horizon and one set of troops were out marching already.
Now that June is here we expect the first of our garden produce to at least appear in our garden. And some of it will get to the dinner table - even if mostly radishes.
On our farm, June was also the beginning of baling - usually alfalfa. The cattle got to taste fresh food finally. As for our gardening and yard work, now we have the garden planted - we hope and its time to cultivate (or hoeing) the weeds.
If you fertilize and spray be sure to follow the directions and when done, be sure to clean up - yourself and tools. And the yard will need mowing too. And other care too. And its time for picnics
