GREEN THUMB

It was about this time of the month in early years when this writer got out the garden tools especially the hoe and took it out to the garden to try hoeing the ground. The idea was to see if the ground was warm enough to plant. No remaining frozen soil.

Then if we had not done before - try the lawn mower and make sure it would start.

Many years the battery needed charging first. Then the mower was usually ready. Then begin the Spring yard and garden work.

Over winter some tree branches came down. They made a nice bonfire come spring. So did other ground trash which needed cleaning up. And the tree remover came to trim some trees. And other work too. And then to the garden. Thank goodness for longer days. some work can be done evenings and not just Saturdays. There is enough Satur-
