GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark Local stores already have garden trays for sale. After filling with dirt seeds can ber planted, watered and the plants will start. Then when the plants are big enough and outside weather warm enough the plants are transplanted into this year’s garden.

Out Uncle Nor started his garden this way many years. He had quite a few trays of plants starting this way. His garden was in the basement. Light was provided by flourescent lights about a foot above the trays. A timer had the lights on about 16 hours daily. The trays were watered about once a week.

The plants grew well - first inside the house and then in the outside garden. His garden always went well. It also kept him busy starting about now until end of gardening in the Autumn.

Just a thought for your gardening this year.

Don’t forget your house plants too. They need at least watering weekly.

Until next week.
