GREEN THUMB

We are now in December and only a few weeks until Christmas. Its time to take stock of our circumstances. For one thing this writer’s famous rule of thumb fell through this year. The snow that comes for Thanksgiving stays the rest of the winter.

As we look outside there is now no snow at all. And the temperature is frequently above freezing. The forecast mentions precipitation coming.

It might be rain (in December) instead of snow. And that rain might freeze upon hitting the ground. That means we might roads.

We hope that passes too.

Of course we might get a snowstorm or two between now and Christmas too.

With that in mind we would suggest stocking the house and pantry for the long haul. And maybe Christmas presents obtained. Time will tell.

And then there’s the Christmas decorations. In years past that meant two mail orders made out - the first for decorations - some for the Christmas tree and a second order the week before Christmas when the mid-winter sale catalogue arrived and last minute Christmas presents of a practical nature ordered.

Whatever there always seems enough to keep us busy. Don’t forget to water your house plants too.

Until next week.
