July 4th is over. We hope you had a good celebration including some new produce from your garden. And possibly some of flowers your raised your too.
Planting is over for now. Now you have the job(s) of weeding your garden, mowing the grass and otherwise caring for your house and yard.
And then there’s the insects who show up. We won’t mind the bees pollinating the flowers, but we sure hate the mosquitoes and flies. And father hated the crickets.
Not all insects are bothersome. We remember from years gone by we saw lightning bugs galore. Haven’t seen any nearby for years. And Monarch butterflies are rare too. They need milkweeds to eat.
And then there’s the weather. We need enough rain for the garden plants to grow. And grow our vegetables.
Most of us remember times when we did. Otherwise we may have time for an outside picnic or two. Maybe a trip or to to visit the relatives. And other outside activities.
Back inside be sure to water and care for your house plants. Until next week.
