We start with a followup on recent columns. Remembering the two new apple hybrids created by the University of Minnesota, we have located a source - Gurneys.
A phone call advises trees are still available as this writing with shipments planned by mid-May, probably for immediate planting then. The weather should be somewhat warmer by then too.
Also, if you haven’t placed your orders for seeds and garden supplies, it should be done to have things arrive when you start your gardening planting for the year.
As for the other yard and gardening pre-season work, we will try the lawn mower - also when it gets a bit warmer. One suggestion is not to mow the lawn too early. Bees need flowers to pollinate so the recommendation is to leave some early flowers (dandelions, etc) for the bees to feed on.
In the meantime check out your tools - first locate and then make sure they will work. Service or replace as needed.
With the various work to be done you will be busy for a while. And then the garden will thank you with your produce.
And don’t forget your house plants. They need watering and other care.
Until next week.
