Spring arrived on Sunday, March 20th, the calendar beginning of spring. The weather spring will probably arrive about mid-April.
In the meantime, it’s time to we ready and get needed preparations done.
We’ve already discussed our catalogue orders. The premium items are in the mail catalogs with the cheaper ones in the local stores.
While we wait for planting season to arrive its a good time to check out our garden tools and other supplies. Sometimes the first thing is to local what we used last year and look for replacements if necessary.
Now, our outside plants will be starting to show up. We’ve already mentioned grass, tulips, and weeds. And dandelions.
One thing we should take notice of is which outside plants made it through the Winter and will bless us with their life, growth, sometimes flowers and sometimes fruit too.
When we find a plant that didn’t make it through we have the decision and job of replacing it. Sometimes we need to give the deceased plant (tree or otherwise) a decent funeral (burial or ingredient in outside fire).
Then we have a second ceremony - what we replace it with. This gives us something to watch for - usually sales on things we need replacements for, and some new things too.
And also, go over your plans for this year’s garden again - what to plant where, for instance. Check out your garden tools too. And your lawn mower. You might use the lawn mower to cut down any weeds left over from last fall that didn’t get cut then.
Inside the house, be sure to care for your house plants too. Water them for sure. And finish planning this year’s garden.
Until next week.
