This is the week of July 4th. We’ve talked about it in past columns. We did notice quite a few items worth mentioning.
As for corn to be knee high. We saw quite a few fields of corn already shoulder high. As for sweet corn, we also noticed a few sweet corn stands. Most have more than just sweet corn for sale. We hope your garden is producing quite well too.
In addition to the sweet corn stands also check out the various farmer’s markets too. Most towns have them. Remember buying there also keeps the money locally through at least another hands.
This past week has also been good to get caught up on rainfall. The prediction was this week was rain five days of the 7-day week. That helps your garden vegetables of course, but also the weeds.
The days are long enough some work could be done nightly (when not raining).
We still get our weekly emails from the garden supply houses. Don’t forget to keep your lawn mowed, your inside plants watered and enjoy your garden produce.
And don’t forget whatever July 4th celebration you have. Also remember what the day meant 250 years ago.
Until next week.
