GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark As usual, the weather is in the news. This past week we have had two days - of rain. Normally we would have gotten snow. We need the precipitation anyhow. We do have worries though. There will be a time when it rains during the day and then freezes at night. That will mean the roads and sidewalks will ice up making driving and walking a problem. Not sure which we’d rather have snow to shovel or ice to slide on.

We finally got around to making a mail order for garden seeds. One item caught our eye. It was a package of sweet corn. Smallest package contains 200 seeds. That’s too much for our little garden. We decided to ask a neighbor if we could share some seeds. OK. That’s the first time for that. We usually wait until the garden produce comes and then share that with those who could use some. Sometimes we gave it right out of the garden, sometimes we got together for a meal, and then to share the gardening news too.

And then to stock up on what seeds we might need from the bargain rack. This will keep us busy for a while. Don’t forget to care for your house plants too. Until next week.
