By Arnold Krusemark And here we are- the end of another month, November this time. And what have we gotten done? Our gardening for the year should be done. Maybe you still have some root crops to dig out and store. And in this writer’s case - we’ve planted our tulips the first week of December.
At least we did not get a snowstorm for Thanksgiving Day this year. There have been years when weather messed up our Thanksgiving plans. In recent columns we also discussed our Thanksgiving Day meals - sometimes followed by having additional guests to help with the leftovers. And Friday, also known as Black Friday, is when we get some things done to finish the house and yard work or get ready for December. And maybe get some Christmas cards and presents selected.
In some years we created a Christmas letter which went inside our Christmas card. Some recipients got an additional sentence or two. And then there are other end-of-year events to get done too.
Whatever we will be busy the rest of the year and into January too. One thing we no longer have is the annual Christmas catalogue. This writer remembers making out two mail orders - one from the Christmas catalogue and another from the mid-winter catalogue which showed up the week before Christmas day.
And then there has been the Christmas tree, ornaments, and gifts to give. That’s a lot to get done in the remaining weeks of the year. Remember to water your house plants too. Until next week.
