GREEN THUMB

GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark The end of another month. And what did we get accomplished? And what needs to be done before Winter sets in? Its time to take inventory - of work to get done along with how our yard and garden did this year. Some things need to get planted now so the roots get established before winter. And soon enough it will be time to collect and store whatever garden produce we need to have and use over winter. Then get the needed work done before winter sets in. We’ve already discussed having a place inside the house to store what we grew this year. Along with the jars of things we canned. some work needs to get done outside - while it is still light enough. The inside work can be done anytime. Time seems to be going faster all the time. We’ve talked about calendars showing up in the mail starting about June. This past week we received the first shipment of Christmas Seals. Now we know that Christmas is coming too. And in October there is one big holiday - Halloween. Be sure to check out the Farmers’ Market sales to add to your garden produce. Canned goods are usually for sale there too. Back home remember to start thinking about bringing in the plants you put out for summer. They need a warm place (and water) for winter too. This should keep you busy. Until next week.
