GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark July is now over and another month has passed. Normally August is a got month with little rain so the garden produce is coming along quite well.

Other than harvesting our garden produce, there is one other August event to mention here - the Murray county Fair, this year August 12 - 17th.

For gardeners it will be the time to select your best garden produce, arrange it for best display, and present it at the Fair for prizes. We will discuss this in more detail in another column. Otherwise, we still have garden weeding to take care of, along with mowing the yard.

And other house and yard work too. Keep your work up to date at least while the days and long enough and hopefully not too hot. Or buggy either.

And while you are at it be sure your house plants are watered and cared for.

And be sure to visit the Farmers’ Markets too.

Until next week.
