GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark Another week has passed and only one more week left in June. And what has gotten accomplished? Our garden has been planted sure. And is growing (along with some weeds). And it has sure been raining enough. So we have the lawn to take care of, along with the garden. And now the mosquitoes too.

One thing has been harvested for the year - our asparagus. Mother used to say we could eat asparagus until June 15th and then let the plants take care of themselves the rest of the year.

Otherwise we hope to have fresh vegetables from our garden on the dining table for July 4th. And maybe a bit sooner too. We usually don’t get enough from our own garden for a full meal, just a taste or to, but it will come from our garden.

In the meantime we still need to mow the yard and hoe the garden - in between rains, of course. And that will keep us busy for the time being.

Until next week.
