By John Stenen Many years ago I read the story of a highschool boy playing basketball in the school gym and he took a nasty fall and severely hurt his head. He had been the picture of health and strength, but after the fall he suffered a great deal with epilepsy.
Many Christians all around the country prayed earnestly for him but he was not healed, nor did he improve. His mother believed in the power of prayer, and that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, (Heb. 13:8).
We sing in our Churches, “What He’s done for others, He will do for you.” Of course, it seems as though a good many Christians do not believe that Jesus heals today, unless He wants to, and He usually doesn’t want to. Others believe that where healing is concerned, “It’s all of the devil.” Talk about deception. It’s Satan that steals, kills and destroys. Jesus gives abundant life! John 10:10. The boy’s mother said to God, “Lord, I know you are the Great Physician. I know You will heal my boy. I am going to fast and pray every supper hour and praise You and thank you for healing my son.
A year went by and he was not healed; two years went by and no healing. In the third year as she fasted and prayed, God instantly healed her son one Sunday evening at Church. Why did it take three years? No one knows, but she got her prayer answered because of her faith and tenacity. Many give up after a few days or weeks if they don’t see the answer to their prayers.
I hope this encourages you not to give up the fight of faith. By the way, the boy was a brother of Oral Roberts who himself was healed of tuberculosis. God bless.
