Not long after I left Viet-Nam in March of 1971, where I served as a scout-sniper with the first marine division, I was sent to the Philippines for fifteen months where we did security for a naval base. In Viet-Nam, no Christian ever presented the gospel of Jesus Christ to me; and had I been killed over there, I would have gone to hell, for I was a lost sinner.
However, a young marine shared the gospel with me for many weeks, while in the Philippines, and in August 1972 I was saved.
I was the first in my family of ten to become a Christian and when I told my mother that the Lord had called me into the ministry in August of 1975 she asked me, “Is there any money in it?” She was not saved yet. I said to her, “I don’t know mom, and I don’t care. I just feel such a need and desire to preach the gospel.” Even today I could care less about having wealth or titles, or fame; my desire is to win people to Jesus.
As one minister said, “I want to deplete hell and populate heaven. What Jesus did for all of mankind in providing salvation for ‘whosoever’ is incredible! No wonder the Gospel is referred to as being ‘the greatest story that has ever been told.’ I plead with you who have not come to Christ yet, Repent, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.
