By John Stenen Over the years I have met many folks who are trying to earn favor with God in hopes of earning salvation. I’ve even met some who believe they have sinned far too much for God to forgive them and they believe heaven is not possible for them.
I love talking to those kind of people because I then get to share with them that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself - When they see for the first time the love that God has for them and that Je-sus went to the cross as their substitute and ‘He who knew no sin was made to be sin that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus;’ it amazes them that salvation has been made so simple. God desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance. It is the Spirit of God that draws you and I to Christ. We must want to have a relationship and fellowship with God. If that is true in your life and you are hoping that when that time comes that the good outweighs the bad and you make heaven - forget it.
That is not how it works. Simply tell God you are sorry for the life of sin you have lived and you do not wish to live like that anymore. Receive Jesus Christ into your heart, (Rom. 10:9,10,13); (John 1:12); (John 3:16). Read Romans chapter 4: and 5: and see that we are saved through faith and not works. Jesus said that all who come unto Him He will in no wise turn away. Read Ephesians 2:8-10. After you are saved, you should be baptized in water; this is telling the world that you now identify with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection. God bless.
