Many years ago while I was working in a foundry, I had been sharing my faith in Christ with a young black man. He said to me that he went to Church once and was told that he needed to get a three-piece suit and clean his life up and God would save him.
This man was a very heavy drinker and dabbled in drugs.
He couldn’t give up his drinking and so never went back to Church. I told him that that was nonsense, “You come to Christ just as you are with all your hang-ups, character flaws, and sins. You do need to repent and have a change of mind concerning your sins and be sorry for living so contrary to God’s Will. The Spirit of God will change your life, He will give you new and far better desires; you will love what you once hated and hate what you now love.”
For months I shared Christ with him and one day he opened his heart and asked Jesus to come in. After several months went by I received a phone call from his wife, (I had never met her). “Hello, is this John Stenen, John Stenen who works with my Curt?” I replied, “Yes, my name is John Stenen and I work with a man named Curt.” She then said, “John Stenen, I just want to thank you for telling my Curt about Jesus.
Since he has been saved he is a good husband and he brings his pay check home now; he quit drinking and he is a good daddy to his boy.” Jesus Christ can do the same for those of you who are tired of a life with no purpose or meaning. One man said, “I have never seen water changed into wine, but I have seen beer changed into groceries.” Scripture says
