By John Stenen Many have asked me over the years, “Where did Cain get his wife?” Scripture tells us that God created Adam and Eve; male and female created He them. They were the only two people on earth. God commanded them to multiply and replenish the earth.
Adam and Eve had sons and daughters. (Gen. 4:1-2; Gen. 5:4; and Gen. 6:1). The first marriages, except between Adam and Eve, were brothers and sisters in order to get the race started; in later years it was forbidden to marry close relatives. (Lev. 18:).
Cain was well up in years when he took a wife and moved to the land of Nod. Many believe this was the area of eastern Europe and western Asia, or possibly China. There were enough people there to build a city. Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of ALL living. (Gen. 3:20).
Scripture is the Word of God, written by various authors as the Holy Spirit of God moved upon them to write what God desired to reveal to us. In those Scriptures God tells us of His great love for you and desires that you become His child. How? God was manifest in the flesh two thousand years ago, (John 1:1).
Jesus went to the cross to pay the penalty for our sin. We are to repent of our sinful lifestyle and surrender our lives to Christ. Love Him, serve Him, obey His Word and you will have everlasting life. (John 1:12; 1 John 5:11-13; John 3:16). God bless.
