By John Stenen The story is told of a young student who was distinguished for his mathematical abilities and was fond of challenging others to solve difficult problems.
One day a classmate came to him and laying a folded paper before him, said: “There is a problem I wish you would help me solve,” and immediately left the room. The brilliant young man quickly unfolded the paper and found that instead of a mathematical problem there was a question from the Scriptures, “What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
He tore the paper into little pieces and returned to studying his books. However, he could not get that question out of his mind. The Holy Spirit convicted him of his sin and he could find no peace until he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ.
How is it with you? What is your greatest pursuit in life? Money? Fame? Power, etc? People everywhere are looking for something to fill that emptiness within them, but they will not find it until they come to Christ - who alone can fill that need that all of us have. Paul wrote to Timothy and said, “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” Dead, lifeless religion will never fill that need either.
The greatest thing I have found in life is to have a personal relationship with my Creator - Jesus Christ. You will lose your soul and go into a Christless eternity needlessly according to Scripture. Jesus said that hell was created for the devil and his angels and He desires that none should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Time is running out; Jesus offers you eternal life today if you will come to Him. God bless.
