GOOD NEWS
By John Stenen Years ago, when a great wind storm blew against the newly built Golden Gate Bridge, it blew the structure twelve and a half feet out of line. However, the architect of the bridge said it was built to go as far as eighteen feet out of line and weather the storms without difficulty.
Many Christians do not know that God has enabled His children to weather the great storms of life without being blown over and falling apart as so many do. We have the Word of God which is alive and powerful, (Heb. 4:12). We have the name of Jesus which is the name above all names, (Phil. 2:9). We have all the armor of God that is listed in Eph. 6: and we have the Holy Spirit of God which empowers God’s kids to face all the adversity we experience in life.
It may surprise you, but God expects Christians to rejoice when difficulties come our way (Rom. 5:3-5: James 1:2-4). What do we normally do in adversity? Just what God tells us not to do - “Do all things without murmuring and disputing (arguing). (Phil. 2:14).
God desires that our attitudes in tough times are full of praise, thanksgiving, and worship as we trust him to see us through the storm. If we have this right attitude, we can use tests and trials as stepping stones in developing our character to become more Christlike.
Please keep this in mind the next time adversity comes to your door. God bless.
