I wonder if we realize how powerful our words are. Prov. 18:21 tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue and there will be consequences for the words we speak, whether good or bad. Consider all the evil deeds that are being carried out in the world today. It started with a thought; those thoughts became words; those words became actions, and those actions brought about all the death, destruction, and ruined lives.
On the other hand, consider all of those people who thought of all the good they could do for society to enrich our lives and make life so much better. Parents can either build up their children’s confidence to succeed and be the person God would like them to be, or they can beat them down and discourage them to the point that their lives will be ruined - all because of words.
Marriages and friendships are destroyed because of words spoken. WE can choose to hate that person and write them off or we can forgive them and love them as Scripture admonishes us to do. Even if the marriage ends or the friendship dissolves, we must forgive.
Forgiveness is love in action. If you are a Christian, God requires this. (Read Mark 11:25). When we stand before God one day, we will give account of all those evil words we should have not spoken, unless we have repented of them and we have been washed clean by the blood of Jesus Christ. Read Matthew 12:36-37.
God bless.
