Scripture tells us that at the end of the Church Age, Jesus will return for those who are His followers. However, Paul also tells us that before Jesus returns there will be a falling away. (2 Thess. 2:1-3). Falling away means that many who call themselves Christians will no longer be serving Christ. They quit Church; quit supporting the gospel; quit studying the Bible; quit praying on a regular basis unless a crisis occurs, then they want God’s blessings. These people are deceiving themselves. The apostle James says we are to be doers of the Word and not hearers only, for if we are hearers only we deceive ourselves.
Jesus said, “If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed.” (John 8:31). When writing to Timothy, Paul said that in the last days, “men would have a form of godliness but denying it’s power. And from such turn away.” Please read 2 Tim. 3:1-7
The ‘apostasy’ or, the falling away, has been increasing for many decades. Many today doubt the inerrancy of God’s Word. They doubt and deny the virgin birth, Christ’s miracles, etc. - Pastors of these apostate churches embrace all manner of immorality and teach that there are many ways to God. These pastors have lost all fear of God and His commands. There is only one way to God the Father and that is through Jesus Christ. See John 14:6; & John 1:12. Christ died on the cross for our sin. Water cannot cleanse you of your sin, only the blood of Christ can wash your sin away. If you have become a part of this ‘falling away,’ I suggest you repent of your sin and begin to faithfully serve Jesus. God bless.
