By John Stenen In Mark chapter 11: we are told of Jesus cursing a fig tree. When did the curse take effect? Its death began immediately! His words went right to the roots of that tree and its death did not appear to the disciples until the next day when they saw that it was dead.
This is another fulfillment of Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life is in the power of the tongue.” When Jesus came into Peter’s house and his mother in law was sick with a fever, Jesus spoke to the fever and it left. When doctors give us medicine and we take our first pill, do we expect all symptoms to disappear all at once? No! Many faithfully take their pills for many years expecting to get a good result. People have faith in those pills and they are helped. But what will they do if the pills will not work for them? I believe we can and should learn to believe God and by faith we can receive healing from our loving heavenly Father. We are told in Mark 9:23 that if we can believe, then all things are possible to him that believes.” Jesus said we could speak to the mountains in our lives (which will include sickness and disease), but we must speak to it, command it to leave in Jesus name (Mark 11:23-24).
He goes on to say that we can have what we say if we believe and do not doubt. How is your faith in God and His Word? What are you speaking - death or life? God bless.
