GOOD NEWS

Training our children is a great responsibility that we should never take lightly. Parents will one day give account to God on how they raised their children. We can never properly raise them from our easy chair and yell, “For the tenth time now, I have told you to stop doing that!” You will never train them that way. You will just get angry and frustrated, throw your hands in the air and say, “My kid is five years old and I can’t do anything with him.”

Yes, you can. You can get out of the chair and teach the child right from wrong. Give them instruction as to why it is wrong and discipline them when needed. That is what God tells us to do. He created us and knows what’s best for us. When we do that, the time will come when discipline will become less and less because they behave.

To a child, mom and dad are to be like God to them; teaching them about God and what He expects of them. Teach them how to love God and their fellow man. Teach them about grace and mercy and forgiveness. Teach them how to pray. Teach them to be men and women of character and integrity. I see far too many children training parents today.

Children will either be raised in the school of ‘wisdom,’ which is following God and His Eternal Word. Or, they will be raised in the school of ‘foolishness’ which is following worldly philosophies which lead to eternal damnation. Much of our generation today have no Church or Sunday school training; is it any wonder they are so worldly? There seems to be no reverence of God whatsoever in their lives. Thank God for the many who are being raised in godly homes all across our nation.

Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” “Train up a child the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Prov. 22:6). God bless.
