By John Stenen In The Book of Isaiah, chapter 5:11-14, God pronounces a Woe of coming judgment on the nation of Israel, because they disregarded God and His commandments. The people would be hitting the bottle; drinking from morning until late at night. They lived for the next party, and all the sin that goes with it. Previously He had given them a warning, because of all their greed and covetousness.
What they experienced back then, some seven hundred years before Christ, is not unlike what we are experiencing today, in our nation. 2 Tim. 3:1-5, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come; For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without selfcontrol, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power, and from such people turn away.
”Why do people live like this? Because Romans 3:18 tells us “there is no fear of God before their eyes.” The gospel of Jesus Christ, is a gospel of power- (1 Cor. 4:20). Col. 1:13 tells us that we Christians, have been delivered from the power of darkness; we have power in the name of Jesus over Satan and his demons. (Mark 16:15-20). Isaiah tells us in chapter. 5:14 that hell enlarges itself because so many are going there. You don’t have to go there if you surrender to Christ. God bless.
