Remember when you first fell in love and were nearly inseparable with the one you loved? Many of those around you in all probability said, “They will get over it!” That is exactly what happened to many of God’s children in the Church at Ephesus in the first century. “They got over it!” What happened was they stopped loving Christ first. Life with all its business took their time and Jesus was moved to the back seat.
Of course, this is a great problem with many of us in the Church today. We are to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, our soul, our strength, our minds – He is to be first in our lives. Do we study His Word during the week? Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments (John 14:15). He also said, “If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed,” (John 8:31).
When I think of how blessed I am because of what Jesus did for me on the cross, I have no problem loving Him and telling others the Good News of the Gospel. God bless.
