By John Stenen In the gospel of Matthew, chapter 23:37-39, God gives us His goal for all of mankind as he speaks to those in Jerusalem. He said this shortly before going to the cross to suffer and die for all of our sins, “Oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” For the past two thousand years the Jewish people have suffered much because of their rejection of Jesus, but will one day receive Christ as their Messiah. Zechariah 13:6-9. This will be at the end of the coming seven year tribulation.
God desires that all should repent and receive Christ as Lord. If so, they are members of His family. This is the only way you can be saved. However, the majority of the Jewish people rejected Christ as their Messiah and they cried, “Crucify Him, crucify Him! Let His blood be upon us and our children.” Like so many today who reject Jesus, they are spiritually desolate and without hope, and they will enter a Christless eternity. It is far better to come to Christ right now and receive His gift of everlasting life. God bless.
