When a person repents of their sin and surrenders their life to Christ, and becomes His follower; immediately God gives to them one of His greatest gifts – the gift of righteousness. That means that we now have ‘right standing’ with God. That in itself is wonderful, but there is so much more. It is a gift of having ‘self-worth.’ Much of the world has little or no respect for them-selves. They feel like a low-life; a loser; they feel guilty for all their past failures; broken homes, failed marriages, bondage to whatever, unfulfilled dreams and goals. Their lives are filled with shame and guilt.
The great news of the gospel is that when we are ‘in Christ,’- We are ‘new creatures; we are born-again from death to life; we are reconciled to God and He declares that we are righteous. We are precious and extremely valuable to God. We are accepted by Him because of our faith in Christ. God loves you and I more than we can imagine and He has adopted us into His family. “Scripture says, “As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the children of God.” (John 1:12). God proved His great love for us by allowing Jesus to be our substitute and die on that awful cross for our sin.
God gives us a choice; we can choose to follow Jesus and receive everlasting life; or, we can reject Jesus and be forever lost and separated from God’s goodness and His love. Think carefully of your eternal destiny and choose wisely. God bless.
