WARRIORS COMPETE AT SECTION MEET AND EVAN BUMGARDNER QUALIFIES INDIVIDUALLY

By Allie Paulzine, Student Reporter The majority of the crosscountry season has come and gone. On Thursday, October 26th the Warriors competed at the section 3A meet with many runners hopeful for a chance to compete at the state tournament on Saturday, November 4th. One of those runners was junior Evan Bumgardner, qualifying for state for his second year in a row.

The girls team came in third with 113 points. Redwood Valley won the section meet with 36 points and Canby/Minneota came in second scoring 64 points. Both teams earned a trip to the state tournament. For the Warriors, Brylei Schreier led the team coming in 15th with a time of 20:56. Close behind Schreier was Sophia Nelson running 21:08 coming in 17th. Then in 22nd and 23rd finishing two seconds apart were Mara Clarke (21:39) and Laiken Farris (21:41). Holland Vogel came in 36th and ran 22:31. Then in 44th was Lindsey Hause finishing in 22:41. The seventh runner for the Warriors was Lily Daniels (23:31).

In the boys race, the Warriors placed fourth, scoring 98 points. Windom won the meet with 59 points and Redwood in second with 77 points, both teams qualified for the state meet. Evan Bumgardner placed fifth in 16:52 to qualify for state. In 20th was Matthew Stapek running 17:55. Silas Stapek and Jon Olsem finished just seven-tenths of a second apart. Stapek (18:07.1) and Olsem (18:07.8) placed 24th and 25th respectively. In 28th was Alex Betz running 18:11. Caleb Appel came in 39th with a time of 18:33. Then was Caleb Ethridge running 18:53 placing 45th.
