It was a beautiful day at Worthington Country Club for the final Red Rock Conference meet on Tuesday. The conference players were ecstatic to have sunshine and minimal wind. Many players struggled with the difficult pin placements and fast greens. A few of MCC’s players commented on how they need to put more time into putting, so they can make better shots for next week. However, the Rebels played very well and walked away with some hardware.
The boys team did well, finishing in third place for the day with a total of 374. MCC was led by Hudson Schryvers with
a 91. He was followed by Jett Veldhuisen (93), Lucas Kuball
(95), Kaden Landsman (95), Dawson Schreier (98), and Drew Wajer (114). On the girl’s side Rachael Huso led with a
41 front and 51 back totaling 92 on the round. Rachael stated, “Even though I struggled on the back nine, I came around for the front nine. I stayed in a good mood because your game can always get better when you’re positive.” Huso finished in second place individually for the day. She was followed by Ava Johnson (98), Lizzie Daniels (106), Lauren Larson (117), and Theran Mannon (119).
The girls team finished solid with a four-day total of 1605, clenching the Red Rock Conference Runn-up title. For the boys, they ended in sixth place overall with a four-day total of
1585. Individual All-Conference honors went out to Rachael Huso (2nd place), Ava Johnson (4th place), Lizzie Daniels
(8th place), and Lucas Kuball
(9th place). MCC’s golfers did extremely well on such a difficult course, and are ready for the challenge of sections next week!
