GOLFERS BATTLED THE BREEZE IN PIPESTONE

It was a chilly and windy day on the course for MCC Golf. The boys and girls varsity and junior varsity traveled to Pipestone for a quad against the Arrows, Adrian/Ellsworth Dragons, and SWMCH-EHS Eagles. The Rebels were challenged mentally and physically by the windy conditions. Many players identified how their club selection changes so much when accounting for the wind.

The boys finished well, despite early struggles, with a team score of 191. They finished in third place as a team, but noted they have a lot of room for continued improvement in their short game chipping. Jett Veldhuisen led the Rebels with a score of 46 with three pars. Behind him was Lucas Kuball who carded a 47. MCC’s girls finished with a team score of 189. The Rebels did not face off against any other girls teams, but only individuals during the meet. Ava Johnson finished in first place with a score of 43. Johnson carded 3 pars on the round, but stated she had a few shots she could have done better on. Rachael Huso came in just one stroke behind Johnson with a 44 finishing in second place. The Rebels varsity and junior varsity will face off against Jackson on Thursday, and the boys varsity will travel to Worthington on Friday for their first 18-hole meet. Boys Individual Medalists: 1.
