GIRLS FALL TO TMB AT HOME

The Rebels busy week continued on Friday (May 13) when the Rebels played host to the Tracy Milroy Balaton Panthers. The Rebels and the Panthers were probably playing for the 4th seed in the upcoming sub-section playoffs. The difference in being 4th or 5th isn’t huge because either way, you play the same team on a neutral site. The Rebels would score runs early but the runs didn’t come in the late innings and that would cost the Rebels.

The Rebels would score a run in the first inning on an Atalie Rosenbrook double and would score on a Mary Lou McNab single. MCC would add two more in the second taking advantage of a pair of Panther errors and a ground out. The Rebels would score three runs in the fourth inning with run-scoring at-bats by Rosenbrook, Mary Lou McNab, and Thea Schneider. The Rebels finished the game with six runs.

The Rebels and the Panthers struggled with errors in this game but at different times. TMB would take more advantage of those mistakes than the Rebels did. Errors were linked to 5 of the Panthers’ runs in this game. Though the Rebels led over the early portion of the game MCC didn’t score after the fourth inning. The Panthers on the other hand scored six runs beginning in the fourth. The Panthers would score 3 in the fourth and 2 in the fifth and the final one in the 7th. The Panthers would turn the Rebels’ errors into an 8 to 6 win.

The Rebels got big games from Mary Lou McNab and Atalie Rosenbrook. McNab had three hits and reached on an error while driving in two runs. Rosebrook had a pair of hits with two runs scored and an RBI. Thea Schneider took the loss in a close game that could have easily gone the Rebels’ way with a couple of key plays. The Rebels would head to Jackson to wrap up the week on Saturday.
