The MCC Rebels were at home for the final time this season on Thursday when they played host to the Adrian Ellsworth Dragons. The Rebels beat the Dragons in Ellsworth earlier this season but the Dragons are a young team that has been getting better over the course of the season. The Rebels were looking to get back on the winning track after losing to Mountain Lake Area Comfrey earlier in the week. In a tough hard-fought game the Rebels would come up with a win.

The Rebels would never trail in this game because they got off to a great start and though the Dragons didn’t play poorly, they couldn’t match the Rebels offense in the first inning. MCC would put three runs on the scoreboard in the first inning. Abby Loosbrock was hit by a pitch and her courtesy runner Alyssa Boerboom stole second base. Mary Lou McNab doubled to right field, scoring Boerboom from second base. Thea Schneider would reach base on an error and Jayda Hellewell walked to load the bases. Elyse Paulzine was hit by a pitch, pushing McNab in for the second run of the game and a passed ball would score Kate Blankenship who was running for Schneider. The Rebels added another run in the second inning when Karissa Hurd walked and then scored on another double by Mary Lou McNab. The Rebels would score another run in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Thea Schneider got the start for the Rebels in the circle. She weaved her way through seven innings while only allowing two runs, both coming in the fourth inning. In the fourth, Schneider allowed three hits, a hit batter, and an error to allow the two runs. Morgan Winter had a great game in the field, recording 4 unassisted outs in the fifth and sixth innings. Brekken Dreesen is one of the upand-coming players in the Red Rock Conference and though she has struggled to pick up wins in the circle as a pitcher this season, she has shown the ability that will make her a tough player now and in the future. The Rebels got the win 7-2.

Mary Lou McNab led the way for the Rebels at the plate with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. Morgan Winter and Karissa Hurd each added a hit in the game. Thea Schneider picked up the win in the circle going 7 innings, allowing 2 runs, only one of which was earned. Schneider walked 2, hit one, and struck out 6. The Rebels head into their last week of the regular season looking to play 6 games weather permitting. The Rebels will wrap up their Red Rock Conference schedule against Edgerton Southwest Christian Flying Dutchmen.
