By Kathy Schwartz, Murray County Master Gardner When purchasing shrubs, select healthy, well- shaped plants. Avoid those with brown, speckled or discolored leaves. They may have pest problems or have suffered drought stress. Keep cutting the grass high and wait to oversee damaged areas in late August or early September.
Almost any container can become a growing container, (pails, tubs, etc.) Be sure there is a drainage hole in the bottom. Remember, metal containers may get hot.
