By: Kathy Schwartz, Murray County Master Gardener Fall is the best time for lawn care. The best time to fertilize your lawn is early August though mid October. It is especially important to water evergreens. They hold their needles through the winter. They can experience winter burn resulting in brown needles.
Clean out flower and vegetable beds by removing annuals and rotten produce. The soil will warm up and dry out faster in the spring. Compost healthy plant refuse, but not diseased plants or weeds with a seed head.
