By Kathy Schwartz, Murray County Master Gardener As soon as tomatoes set fruit, begin to monitor lower leaves for Septoria leaf spot. Remove infected foliage and spray plants with a registered protective fungicide if the disease is severe.
Grubs do eat roots just below the soil surface. In small numbers they help aerate the soil. If you see dead patches, the population is getting too large and an organic treatment may be necessary.
Full shade means 2 hours or less of sun per day. Partial shade is 4-6 hours of sun per day. Dappled shade is having light filter through trees for most of the day.
