FULDASCHOOLBOARD APPROVES PRELIMINARY 2026 LEVY PAYABLE IN 2027

Approved by unanimous vote of the Fulda School Board was the certification of the preliminary 2026 tax levy that is payable in 2027. A motion was made, and seconded, to approve the maxmium amount allowable for the levy.

Two fundraisers were approved for the Fulda High School Band. The annual Chili Supper will be held on Monday, November 3rd and the Band Pops and Pie Concert will be held on Monday, May 11th.

A request was made by the Fulda FFA to hold their corn drive and holiday fruit sales. Both fundraisers will be held during October.

Contracts for employees that were approved were for English Language Learner Paraprofessional, Jonathan Cruz Rodriguez; elementary school paraprofessionals, Lysiana Matias and Jessica Ouellette; food service, Ken Albrecht; Early Childhood Family Education Coordinator/Early childhood Teacher, Megan Oslund; and a substitute teacher contract for elementary music with Linda Lund.

The board voted in favor of purchasing Generation Genius for $1,395 per year. The program provides ready-to-use K-8 science lessons that are research based, and also align to 94 percent of the Minnesota State Science Standards.

In the Fulda Community Education Report was mentioned that 124 aquacise swimmers utilized the pool in August, and 30 people swam during open swim. As of right now, the pool will be open on weekends that lifeguards are available. The current lifeguards are involved in after school activities, so no after school hours will be scheduled.

Fulda Community Education fall brochures were sent out in the Murray County Wheel Herald during the week of September 8th.

Included in Greg Erdmann’s Athletic Director Report were current, recent and upcoming events including volleyball games on Tuesday and Thursday in Fulda, and the junior soccer pregame fundraiser on Friday, September 12, 5-7 p.m.

Junior high football has increased the number of athletes with the addition of 6th grade students.

Fulda Elementary School principal, Brett Perish, stated that this year’s enrollment includes 153 students in kindergarten through sixth grade with 50 more in 3 and 4 year old preschool.

Principal Perish addressed the 2025 MCA data, noting that the reading and math trend is showing good improvements.

Both Principal Perish and Superintendent Pagel thanked the staff for getting the school year off to a great start.

Superintendent Pagel shared that opening day enrollment was at 144 in school and three full-time PSEO students. He notated the activities that have already been held during the beginning days of the new school year.

A tractor rental contract with Westbrook Ag Power received approval. Terms include 150 hours beginning on December 1, 2025 with return of the tractor on April 1, 2026. The equipment will be used for snow removal.

District groups and supporters who were recognized and thanked for their contributions to the schools included Murray County Medical Center, Stuff the Bus, Tyson Meyeraan Family, Fulda Community Club, Geronimo Power, Marv and Sherri Isder, Fulda American Legion Auxiliary, She Brews, and all Homecoming candidates and attendants.

The next regular board meeting will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, 6 p.m. at the high school.
