During Fulda City Council’s Monday meeting, Fulda Area Lakes Association asked permission to purchase and install steps on Second Lake. The steps were purchased through a gift from James Malters to FALA, and will provide access to the dock at the SW corner of Second Lake. The council voted to accept the donation of the steps and the responsibility of maintaining them.
Reviewed and approved by the council was the City of Fulda Small Cities Development Grant CDAP-24-0035-O-FY25 for the Owner-Occupied Housing and Rehabilitation Program Guidelines and Policies.
Bollig Engineering’s Task Order No. 9 regarding Streetscape Improvement was reviewed by the council. The estimated cost of the design and bidding documents for the improvements is approximately $80,000. This was also approved.
Also approved was the City of Fulda Grant Administration Service Agreement with Developmental Services, Inc., Ivanhoe, MN.
Discussion was held regarding the Fulda Heritage Society’s proposed purchase of the old elevator that is located near the Fulda Depot Museum. The organization has secured insurance on the building and will move forward with providing a plan of action to the city council for planned improvements.
Councilwoman Jasmine Bray visited with the other council members regarding the re-organization of the Friends of Fulda Memorial Library, and the progress that has been made.
Discussion was held regarding the increasing frequency of children driving motorized vehicles on city streets. There is great concern regarding safety issues as many residents have witnessed incidences of reckless and careless driving. There are Minnesota State Laws (Minnesota Statute 171.02 and Minnesota Statute 169.13) regarding unlicensed children driving on city streets. At this time, the Fulda City Council is working on adopting an ordinance that will specifically address the issues. Law enforcement will be providing increased monitoring of unlicensed drivers and reckless and careless driving.
Approved by the council were permits for Steve Verdugt to move a shed; Fulda Public Schools for the construction of a gymnasium, classrooms, office additions and remodeling of the interior area of Fulda High School; a chicken coop for Coralis Mae Lee Shuey; and a chicken coop for Aaron Crowley.
Fulda City Council will meet in regular session on Monday, August 3, 2026, 5 p.m., at city hall.
