By Joanne Bergman The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 with all members present. Also in attendance at this meeting were newly elected commissioners Roger Zins and Mark Carlson. They will take their oath of office at the first meeting of January 2025.
A bid opening was held for the installation of box culvert on CR 42. Five competitive bids were obtained with the contract awarded to Town & Country at $544,884.85. This was an amount nearly $100,000 below the estimated cost.
A Resolution was adopted that will have the DNR paying the costs of 5-6 fishing sites along CSAH 13 (Valhalla Road). These will be a part of the reconstruction of the road in 2025.
Museum Director Nick DeMuth received approval for a plan submitted by the Currie American Legion. The plan calls for the installation of several 2D silhouettes along with paving stones and lighting at End O Line Park. The Legion is fundraising and selling paving stones to pay 100% of the costs.
Four Commissioners to the Red Rock Rural Water System were appointed. Bruce Gunderman will complete the term of Jay Takle ending December 31,2027. Leslie Anderson, James Haler and John Smith will fill four year terms from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2028.
The required Truth in Taxation Meeting is scheduled at 6:00 pm on November 26th. The next regular scheduled meeting is set for December 3rd.
